Prepare/Enrich is an evidence-based tool that is used to support couples & families in counseling. The goal is to empower the couple to strengthen and build insight into their relationship. By working with a Certified Prepare/Enrich (P/E) Facilitator, the couple will each complete an evidence-based assessment that has been shown to improve relationship satisfaction. The couple will work with the P/E facilitator and the hope is that the couple will be empowered to strengthen insight into their relationship.
At OceanVista Counseling Associates, Sarah Allen and Rachel Dawson are both Certified Prepare/Enrich Facilitators. Prepare/Enrich is an evidence-based tool (assessment) that has been used by over 4 million couples to enrich their relationship.
The program is used to equip couples and families with the skills and insight required to foster healthy relationships. The program is designed for the couple or family to work as a team. The goal is to embrace opportunities to collaborate and pursue growth in their relationship, leading to a healthier and stronger bond. The assessment explores each individual’s personality, the family of origin, and relationship dynamics.
PREPARE/ENRICH’S evidence-based assessment tool evaluates various relationship areas:
- Spiritual beliefs
- Relationship roles
- Family and friends
- Intimacy expectations
- Leisure activities
- Financial management
- Partner style and habits
- Conflict resolution
- Communication
Couples can use P/E to increase insight into their relationship. The assessment will help identify which areas would benefit from future growth. P/E is a momentary snapshot of the relationship at the time that the assessment is taken. P/E is not a guarantee of a healthy relationship or a test on whether a couple should remain together or not.
The program encourages healthy discussion, enhances relationship skills, and reduces the risk of separation or divorce. In counseling sessions, the therapist and the clients can discuss the results and work on ways to improve the relationship overall.
The program can be for the following reasons:
- Premarital counseling
- Marital counseling
- Existing Relationships
- Evaluation of Parenting Styles
- Readiness for a couple to foster or adopt children
