My name is Teresa Kettman and I am a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (IMH 20522) in the state of Florida. I am currently working on my hours to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. In Florida, to apply for independent state licensure a counselor must obtain an additional 1500 hours of supervised clinical experience post-graduation to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I attended Webster University for my graduate work, and I received a Master of Arts in Counseling. I have been working in the field of counseling for over 20 years in both school and community settings.
My counseling experience includes individuals, families, and couples working with clients through anxiety, depression, anger management, adjustment disorders, coping with trauma, mood disorders, communication skills, conflict resolution, and/or behavioral disorders. My therapeutic approach is eclectic, with a client-centered technique at the forefront. Depending on the needs of my client I may use any of the following therapeutic strategies: Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and/or Solution Focused therapy (with a focus on goal setting). These techniques can be applied to individuals, couples, or families.
It is important that my clients feel supported, comfortable, and safe when meeting with me. Therefore, I like to provide therapy in a relaxed setting that works best for my client. Our first steps will be focusing on building a relationship of trust and open communication with healthy boundaries.
Living a healthy lifestyle means having a balanced life. Your mental well-being is just as important as your physical well-being. In sessions, I work with clients on identifying stressors and triggers that are creating an imbalance in their life. Then, with the use of researched-based strategies; guide clients to creating balance in their life once again.
Counseling sessions may be held in person at our office in Ormond Beach or through telehealth counseling. I offer daytime and evening appointments to support your busy schedule. Please feel free to call or email our office directly if you have any questions: support@OceanVistaCounsel.com.
